The Road to Alpha, Week 9 - A Day In the Life of a Citizen
(

)
This is perhaps the most rushed and confused update so far. I apologize and hope you still enjoy.
What I did
Started connecting the statistical city simulation with the agent-based traffic simulation
- Citizens belong to households that share an apartment and resources like food and products
- They eat food and use products every day, food gets consumed, products may break
- If citizens can't satisfy a need, they will become more unhappy
- If a citizen has found a work place, they will go there in the morning and return in the evening
Created a User Interface to display information about all residents/employees of a building
Implemented a Time System
- Tries to represent both short and long time spans
- Compromise between pace of progression, believability of car movement speed, travel duration and more
- 1 real second = 1 in-game minute
- 1 real minute = 1 in-game hour
- 24 real minutes = 1 in-game day
- 1 season consists of 2 days
- 1 year consists of 4 seasons = 8 days = 3.2 real hours
- Possible time accelerations: 1x 4x 16x
- at 16x, 1 in-game day takes 1.5 real minutes, 1 in-game year takes 12 minutes
What I will probably do next
Add missing citizen behaviour
- shopping
- recreational activities
- different kinds of employment, family situations and live-styles
